I say “one more” like I know when this saga will end. If you are using the devcpu-data port to update your processors, you’ll need to add
microcode_update_enable="YES"
to your /etc/rc.conf, as Sepherosa Ziehau points out.

Do you have to do the rc.conf change? What happens if you just build off latest master?
The microcode update is not to the operating system; building from master does not include it. It’s a separate program installed by that port.
