What’s new in 5.2?
On the “what’s new”: I would like to know in general how it is decided to make a new release. Who decides and what considerations enter into the decision? Time passed since last release, number or extent of new features or fixes?

Releases are every 6 months, with some wiggle in there to accomodate people’s schedules, bug fixes, and so on.
