The SMP option is now in the GENERIC kernel config. This means you’ll have a SMP-capable kernel even on an uniprocessor machine, unless you configure a special kernel.

Need to do some benchmarking and profiling against FreeBSD at some point soon. I really wonder where we stand these days with all the work in the SMP department and interrupts also?
