    I think this is a bad idea; at least until the major kernel work has ended, and the majority of the kernel APIs have stablized. Unfortunately, my opinion doesn’t count for much, and the generally very bright developers seem to disagree with me on this one.

    Not like it’s hard to set it up manualy, but I personally feel like it should remain a default for quite some time to come, as people new to BSD may not know how to do this, but invariably end up finding some of the most interesting bugs…

  2. For the most part, we do not talk to the kernel directly. We have a whole slew of helper apps that do this. So it really doesn’t matter how much the kernel changes, BSD Installer will still function as designed.
