I think this actually works in OSS’s favor, since now the actual drivers will stand on their merits… and also for BSD users, since applications have been targeting ALSA in the interim, and Pulse will at least meet the portability problem halfway. Seems the Free world is past the first- and second- systems of esd and artsd and finally decided to split the difference.

4front still has to figure out how to profit from this adventure, though, at least if they’re going to devote resources to continued development, if http://4front-tech.com/hannublog/ is any indication. Anyone know if they’ve found a way since the November 7 post?
