This also saves a lot of wear and tear on your CRT if you still use one, and of course is kind of necessary if you want screen locking for privacy.

Of course, if you&#039;re trying to save power or heat, don&#039;t use a CPU- or GPU-intensive hack, since it&#039;ll happily continue running while the display is dark.  This is especially noticable on a laptop or when I end up Xnested into an account with an OpenGL saver -- Xnest only allows software rendering...]]></description>
