Matthew Dillon is planning to start userland VFS work in about a month; this led Andreas Hauser to ask if FUSE could be brought in as for FreeBSD. Csaba Henk, who ported it to FreeBSD, said “yes, but better“!
Why not rather go for 9P ? A protocol modelling a VFS – pionered by R. Pike and K. Thompson for Plan 9 from Bell Labs.
A linux port is at http://www.v9fs.org/
Atleast read up on it on the Plan 9 homepage, and the section 5 man pages there.
Sorry- it’s v9fs.sf.net not http://www.v9fs.org
